The PTO Accumulation clause defines how employees earn and accumulate paid time off (PTO) over time. Typically, this clause outlines the rate at which PTO is accrued, such as a certain number of hours per pay period or month, and may specify maximum accrual limits or carryover policies. Its core function is to provide clear guidelines for both employees and employers regarding the earning and use of PTO, helping to prevent misunderstandings and ensuring consistent application of leave policies.
PTO Accumulation. PTO credits may be accumulated and carried over from one (1) calendar year of employment to another up to the designated maximum for the employee's service year. Hours over the maximum amount shall be placed in an extended illness bank, which may be accessed for the use of medical qualifying leave for the employee or for family after three (3) days of continuous illness or if all PTO has been exhausted. Such hours will be retained for this use until exhausted. Hours in the extended illness bank shall not be paid out upon termination of employment.
PTO Accumulation. PTO credits may be accumulated and carried over from one (1) year of employment to another up to a maximum of five hundred (500) hours. Hours over five hundred (500) shall be forfeited, except under unusual circumstances and when approved by the Employer in writing. PTO denied by the Employer due to inadequate staffing coverage will be deemed as one such type of unusual circumstance. A nurse shall not lose accrued PTO without receiving prior written notification from the Employer and a reasonable opportunity to take the PTO.
PTO Accumulation. Employees in the classifications of Firefighter EMT, Firefighter Paramedic, Engineer, and Captain shall accrue, on a pro rata basis, PTO for completed pay periods provided, however, that the maximum combined vacation and PTO accrual that may be carried over to future calendar years shall not be prorated. Such PTO shall be available for use on the first day following the pay period in which it is earned, provided an employee has completed thirteen
PTO Accumulation. At the beginning of each year, an employee’s unused PTO benefits up to a maximum of 240 hours may be carried forward into the following year. With written approval by the Managing Director to the Human Resources Department, actual accrued hours beyond the maximum 240 may be carried forward if scheduled to be used within 90 days.
PTO Accumulation. Employees in regular positions shall accrue, on a pro rata basis, PTO leave for completed pay periods. Such PTO leave allowance shall be available for use on the first day following the pay period in which it is earned.

Thirty (30) days after the signing of this Agreement management will send out an email to all caregivers with more than one (1) year’s accrual of PTO in their bank notifying them of the change in the PTO cap. Each employee with more than one (1) year’s PTO accrual in his or her bank will either take the PTO, or cash it out at the appropriate rate, within one hundred twenty (120) days of the signing of the Agreement.

The Hospital shall keep nurses informed of accumulated PTO accruals through its electronic timekeeping system, a nurse is responsible to monitor PTO accrual levels, and a nurse shall not lose accrued PTO without a reasonable opportunity to take the PTO. When a nurse advances to the next wage increment step, the Hospital shall inform a nurse electronically by email of the nurse’s PTO accrual level and maximum permitted during the year.

PTO Accumulation a) PTO annual accrual shall be credited to employees at the start of each calendar year based on their months of service as of January 1.
b) Employees may not start a calendar year, with a PTO balance greater than one thousand (1,000) hours. Any leave in excess of one thousand (1,000) will be lost*.
