Purpose of Training. Both Parties recognize the need to provide employees with opportunities to improve their qualifications in order to prepare for promotional advancement, upgrade their skills required as a result of technological change, new methods or procedures, and to qualify for new positions being planned. To meet these needs the Employer shall:
(a) implement an upgrading and/or training program for all trades or trades-related classifications within thirty (30) days of ratification the Employer shall distribute the program(s) profile to the Labour Management Committee, the Local Union Area Office and shall post on all bulletin boards;
(b) implement a training program in order to qualify at least two (2) regular employees to substitute in supervisory positions in each work group in each seniority block;
(c) ensure there are at least two (2) regular employees in the machine operator series (in excess of the normal operators) trained and qualified to operate each type of equipment in each seniority block, e.g., single axle dump truck, tandem dump truck, distributor truck, loader, grader, gradall, etc.;
(d) where the complement in (a) and (b) above falls below two (2) regular employees, the Employer shall, within two (2) weeks, commence operator training;
(e) pursuant to (b) above, senior employees shall be offered training if there are junior employees who are qualified to operate the higher classes of equipment.

The Employer and the Union agree to promote, wherever possible, the training, retraining or in-service sessions of employees to improve their job skills related to their employment. The Employer is responsible for ensuring the quality, control and documentation of employee training. The onsite management team will be accountable. The initial and refresher training of employees shall be performed by supervisors or lead hands.

(a) the achievement of key competencies required for successful participation in the workplace (where these have not been achieved). Key competencies shall include ASF level 1 competencies in relation to literacy, numeracy, problem solving, team work, work, using technology. Key competencies for an industry or enterprise; and/or
(b) the achievement of an accredited Certificate at AQF 2 or above that is awarded on the basis of achieving the competencies specified by the Traineeship.
(c) A competency based training and assessment process will underpin the Traineeship. Competency assessment will be in accordance with the industry accredited AQF system.
(d) Achieving the competencies required to successfully participate in the business of the employer and to gain employment elsewhere in the industry.
Purpose of Training. The Employer and the Union agree to promote, wherever possible, the training or retraining of employees to improve their job skills related to the Stadium Operations. Employees required to attend compulsory training courses pertaining to Stadium operations after completing eight (8) hours of work in a day or forty (40) hours of work in a week, will receive overtime rates of pay. It is understood that payment of overtime rates in no way detracts from the compulsory requirement to attend.

When the Employer decides such opportunities are available, the Employer will train, on the basis of seniority, employees who demonstrate an ability for the work.

(b) The Employer is responsible for ensuring that quality, control and documentation of employee training.
(c) It is understood that an employee will be adequately trained to perform the assigned work. Duties will not e assigned to any employee who has not been trained. Upon request to a manager or supervisor an employee will be provided with additional training in order to safely perform the work.
(d) Employees may access their training records upon request.
(e) An Employee assigned to a co-worker for training purposes will remain in the same work areas as the co-worker.
(f) Employees, when directed to attend compulsory training courses or in service sessions pertaining to operations shall be paid in accordance with the provision of the Collective Agreement.
