Special Trip Assignments. Special trip assignments shall be distributed and rotated as equally as possible among bus drivers in the bargaining unit in keeping with the District offered transportation program and the needs of the District.
Special Trip Assignments. A. Any trip of two (2) hours or less shall be considered a shuttle and not subject to the provisions of this Article. The Director of Transportation shall assign shuttles to Drivers to best meet the needs of the District.
B. Special Trip Assignments of over two hours are to be assigned on a rotational basis. A driver shall not be required at any time to accept a special trip assignment. The driver shall be in paid status from the time they check out the bus until the time they have completed all necessary duties as determined by the immediate supervisor.

Special Trip Assignments. The Employer shall assign special trips, to the extent possible, from among those regularly scheduled qualified transportation employees who signify their interest in writing. Special trip charts shall be maintained and posted by the Employer for the purpose of equalizing the distribution of said assignments. A special trip that is refused by an employee shall be charged as a trip taken on the special trip chart. Such procedure is to be worked out through a committee of Transportation Employees and the Transportation Director.
Special Trip Assignments. 1. A special trip is defined to include the operation of a vehicle for purposes of transporting students in situations outside of the regular daily route to and from school.
2. In reference to special trips, an effort will be made by the Director of Operations to provide each driver with approximate equal amounts of time worked in special trip assignments. An accrual record of special trip assignments will be placed in the office of the Director of Operations and such time accrued for each driver for a school year. Time offered and refused by an individual driver shall be charged against the accumulative record. The record shall be accumulative from July 1 to June 30 of each year of the contract.
3. Posting of special trips will be made by the Director of Operations as soon as he/she receives notification, or on a monthly basis. Time and one-half will be charged as the amount of time paid for. Example: working six (6) hours on time and one-half (1 ½) amounts to nine (9) hours credited to accrued time list kept in the transportation supervisor’s office.
Special Trip Assignments a. The Employer will post notice of special trips for drivers five (5) working days in advance of the trip. Drivers desiring to work the special trip shall sign their names on the posting. The Employer will assign the special trip to the driver(s) or qualified transportation assistant/driver(s) with the most classification seniority requesting the assignment. Regularly scheduled hours combined with special trip hours may not total more than 40 hours per week without supervisor’s approval. If no one signs the posting the least seniored employee or a substitute will be assigned.
b. If a special trip is canceled within two (2) hours of its scheduled departure, the driver will receive two (2) hours special trip pay. If a canceled trip is rescheduled, the assignment will be given to the original driver(s).
c. In addition to pickup and drop off of students, a special trip includes a vehicle safety check before the trip, cleaning the interior of the vehicle and exterior mirrors after the run, and the fueling of the vehicle when necessary. The time for safety check and cleanup will normally not exceed twenty (20) minutes.
d. Drivers are paid the special trip rate for all special trips and receive reimbursement for admittance fees, parking fees or other expenses, excluding personal purchases or souvenirs.
e. Compensation for special trips will increase at the same rate as Appendix A, Wage Schedule. The amount of compensation will be printed at the bottom of each year’s wage schedule.
f. The Employer will maintain a list of employees who are willing to drive trips that become available on short notice. In the event that the need for these emergency trips become known two (2) or more hours in advance, the Employer will attempt to fill the trip by contacting employees on the list in order of classification seniority. In instances where the need for the trip becomes known with less than two (2) hours’ advance notice, the Employer will make every attempt to fill the assignment by seniority.
g. An employee who is prevented from driving his/her regular run because of a delay in returning from a special run that was not anticipated to conflict with the regular run shall be paid the difference between the amount s/he earned from the performance of the special trip and the amount s/he would normally receive from the regular trip.
h. Each bus used on a special trip shall have a chaperone, and the chaperone shall ride on the bus.

Special Trip Assignments. Drivers must complete probation and Special Trip training have at least six months District driving experience as a permanent driver before they are placed on the special assignment rotation list.
Special Trip Assignments. The employer shall assign special trips (charters) from among those drivers (including sub drivers) who signify their interest in writing a week in advance of the trip. A special trips chart shall be maintained and posted by the employer for the purpose of equalizing the distribution of said assignments unless this equalization will result in overtime at which time it would be offered to driver (including sub drivers) that would not be on overtime. If all signed interested drivers would be on overtime it would be awarded to the driver with lowest amount of hours. A special trip that is refused by a driver shall be charged as a trip taken on the special trip chart. Any special trip assignment during the day (8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.) would be awarded to the signed interested driver (including Subs) that would cause the least amount of disruption to the regular routes.

When extra drivers are needed for special trip assignments during the work day, these assignments shall be distributed as equally as possible among all contracted drivers assigned a route. A control list shall be set up with the driver's names listed in order of seniority. Special trips shall be assigned to the first names on the list in order of seniority as the trip becomes available. If the employee accepts or denies the trip, her/his his/her name is rotated to the last place on the list and the next trip is offered to the employee with the next greatest seniority and on down the list in descending order. Refusal in excess of one (1) trip by any member of the bargaining unit shall cause her/his name to be rotated to the bottom of the list. Eligibility for special trip assignments is contingent upon the driver’s qualifications for trips that include city driving, mountain driving, or driving in snow/ice.
Special Trip Assignments. Weekend, evening, holiday, sport, and mountain trips will be assigned in order of seniority to drivers who sign up for them on a rotation basis. Each special trip assignment category will be tracked on its own rotation list. If a special trip becomes available due to the unavailability of the previously assigned driver, such trip will be offered to the driver who is the next in rotation on the special trip rotation list at no loss to their place in rotation and so on until the special trip is taken. If a bus driver is absent (except for pre-approved absences) any portion of the work day prior to a special trip assignment, the special trip will be offered to the driver listed next on the special trip rotation list (as long as they are present at work the day prior to the special trip assignment) at no loss to their place in rotation and so on until the trip is taken. If no regular driver is available, the run shall be offered to a substitute driver. That run shall not be charged against the placement in rotation of the driver who accepts the run during the secondary sign up. A special trip assignment shall include:
