Teaching Assignment. For teaching faculty, the teaching assignment will be one or a combination of programs, courses, or student originated studies offerings (all of which are collectively referred to as “academic offerings” below). For full-time faculty the normal teaching assignment will be a program. For part-time faculty the normal assignment is either a program and/or course(s), depending on the terms of their contract. In addition, faculty may support individual learning contracts.

Teaching Assignment. All actively employed teachers will be notified no later than June 30 of their tentative class and/or subject assignment for the forthcoming year. Changes in assignment made after August 15 will be made only after a conference with the teacher provided the teacher is readily available for such a conference.

Teaching Assignment. 1. In time-tabling teachers’ loads, special consideration shall be given to the load of beginning teachers to provide an assignment which is not excessive for the beginning teacher in terms of the number of course preparations, the number of subject areas, and the teaching location.

Teaching Assignment. The inload teaching assignment for the academic year will be provided to faculty by September 1st. Changes made to the AY teaching assignment after September 16th are based on discipline/department need and are made through mutual agreement between the faculty member and the ▇▇▇▇/Director. Any such changes can occur no later than two weeks before the start of the term in which the change is applied. Load that exceeds the instructional load assignment as defined in Article 3 is considered overload, and conditions are detailed in Section B. Overload compensation is detailed in Article 11, Section E.

Teaching Assignment. Teaching assignments will include any course that can be applied toward an Associate’s Degree or Career Certificate or is part of the Adult Education or the Developmental area. Selection and assignment of faculty members to courses are the responsibilities of the Academic Vice President or ▇▇▇▇.

Teaching Assignment a. All faculty will be assigned the Faculty Service Area of Community College Instruction/Service. b. Current preparation is weighed in four components. The first is minimum qualifications according to the Disciplines List of the Academic Senate for the California Community Colleges or the equivalent (as determined by Merced College's equivalency process); second is the authorization or credential issued by the State of California; third is academic preparation in major fields, minor fields, and special interest areas of aptitude or preparation; and fourth is consideration of occupational experience and/or classroom instructional experience in special aptitude or interest areas. For purposes of layoff seniority, authorization by the general secondary credential is judged to exist in major and minor fields and subject areas previously taught in the professional experience of the instructor. Authorizations by other types of credentials are as provided specifically by the authorization stated on the credential and within the preparation or specialization of the faculty member. The faculty member will be considered qualified to render service by being in possession of minimum qualifications according to the Disciplines Lists of the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges or the equivalent (as determined by Merced College's equivalency process), or of an appropriate credential plus completion of appropriate academic preparation at the time of submission of notices of layoff. The employee shall be considered qualified to serve the District in any capacity for which he or she has had successful classroom or other appropriate experience in the subject, subject area, or closely related subject areas that by present and/or past assignment provide a basis for becoming qualified at the time of submissions of notices of layoff, or March 1st, whichever is later. Nothing in this Article shall in any way reduce or modify any rights of the employee under the law.

Teaching Assignment. All secondary teachers will have a 20 minute period to eat lunch; however, a teacher may be asked to volunteer in the event supervision is needed.
