Unanticipated Overtime. In the event an employee is forced to work beyond their regularly scheduled shift due to staffing needs, the College shall follow the procedure below for filling the vacancy as listed below for the respective job titles. In the event an employee is forced to work more than four hours beyond their regularly scheduled shift, all hours thereafter shall be paid at a rate of two (2) times the employee’s regular rate of pay in quarter hour increments independent of the overtime calculation stated in section 13.4 of the agreement. The same employees will not be subject to force back on two (2) consecutive days.
Unanticipated Overtime. Where overtime is unanticipated (less than 24 hours in advance), overtime shall be offered by seniority to qualified employees who are at work. If no qualified employee accepts the overtime offered, the employer may offer the overtime by seniority to any available and qualified employee.
Unanticipated Overtime. The Company acknowledges that involuntary overtime can adversely affect the workforce and cause disruption to employees’ personal lives. The parties agree that, when possible, voluntary overtime is the preferred method of staffing overtime. Yet, the parties recognize that overtime is necessary to insure that production demands are met and there are not disruptions in the operations of the plant. The parties further recognize that in some instances involuntary overtime must be utilized in order to meet these production demands and to avoid disruptions in the operations of the plant. If involuntary overtime is necessary, the Company will: a. First attempt to have overtime filled through voluntary means; b. As the practices in the ▇▇▇▇▇ vary due to their unique operational needs, where mutually agreed upon current practices will be maintained, except in those ▇▇▇▇▇ where the lowest seniority employee is forced to work the overtime; and c. In those ▇▇▇▇▇ where the lowest seniority employee is forced to work the overtime, overtime procedures will be modified to provide for a rotation of involuntary overtime based on employees within the same classification, on the same shift, will rotate forced situations daily, low to high seniority.
Unanticipated Overtime. If unanticipated overtime is required, the management team will seek volunteers first. If the overtime is a ‘same day’ need, then employees currently on shift or coming in on the next same day shift will be asked first. The unanticipated overtime will be filled on a first come-first served basis. If there are not enough volunteers, mandatory overtime will be assigned by inverse seniority starting with the last available employee hired.
Unanticipated Overtime. If an unanticipated shift is needed to be filled due to an illness or the necessity for additional personnel, the following procedure shall be utilized: Using the same list as is used for Scheduled Overtime, the member on top of the list shall be called (and, if necessary, texted, as set forth above) and given fifteen (15) minutes to respond. If the member accepts the shift, their name shall be moved to the bottom of the list. If the member refuses the shift or fails to respond within fifteen (15) minutes, the next member shall be called. This process will continue until the shift is filled.
Unanticipated Overtime. In the event overtime needs cannot be filled through shift extensions, the utilization of part- time employees, supervisors, as the Agency determines are available or voluntary signups, the Agency will utilize an electronic list containing the names of all employees being notified of the overtime in order to assure that employees receive the overtime on an equal basis. The overtime shall be filled in inverse order of seniority by shift, starting with the least senior employee on that shift being the first to be assigned mandatory overtime and continuing through the most senior employee on that shift, then repeating the process, as set forth for anticipated overtime. In the event the Agency cannot reach an employee for mandatory overtime (voice mail and texts will not be considered as reaching the employee unless responded to) or the employee is reached but cannot respond due to legitimate reasons (illness, consumption of alcohol, etc.), the Agency will proceed to contact other employees on that shift in order of inverse seniority. In the unlikely event that overtime cannot be filled through that procedure, the Agency reserves the right to mandate overtime assignments for any employee.

  • Scheduled Overtime Scheduled overtime is overtime which is assigned by the end of the employee's last worked shift prior to the overtime assignment and which does not immediately precede or immediately follow a scheduled work shift. Unless notified otherwise in advance of the scheduled starting time of the scheduled overtime assignment, any employee who is scheduled to report for work and who reports as scheduled shall be assigned at least two (2) hours work. If work is not available, the employee may be excused from duty and paid for two (2) hours at the employee's appropriate rate.   • Shift Work ‌ (1) Except as varied by this Clause, all other aspects of Section 4 of the Agreement shall apply to the working of shift work. (2) The Company has the right to direct Employees to work shift work as required and the Employees shall work the shift work as directed. Shift work will be worked and paid for in accordance with this subclause. (3) Shift work is deemed to be any arrangement of Project Working Hours where the majority of the Ordinary Hours are worked outside of the spread of Ordinary Hours defined at clause 16 - Hours of Work of this Agreement and when Employees are working as such. (4) Ordinary Hours for shift Employees will comprise thirty-six (36) hours per week averaged over a defined work cycle and will not commence before 5.00pm on Sunday night. Such Ordinary Hours are the specified hours under each shift Employee's terms of employment by reference to which annual leave and personal/carer's leave accrue. (5) Prior to the commencement of shift work, the Company shall seek the agreement of the Employees involved. Failing agreement, the Company will provide to the Employees concerned one (1) week's notice of the commencement of shift work and the starting and finishing times of Ordinary Hours of the shifts. (6) Where less than five (5) consecutive shifts are worked then Employees shall be paid at overtime rates in lieu of the shift loading prescribed at subclause (7) of this clause. The consecutive nature of shifts will not be deemed to be broken if work is not carried out on a Saturday, Sunday, RDO or on any public holiday. (7) A shift Employee shall receive a flat loading of twenty-five (25) percent of their Ordinary Hourly Rate for each hour worked. (8) Employees working night shift shall be entitled to stop work for a half-hour without deduction of pay for the purpose of taking a meal break. (9) The Company may stagger the times for Employees to take meal breaks to meet operational requirements. (10) The Company shall structure the Project Working Hours for Employees working night shift to include one (1) half-hour rest break to be taken without deduction of pay by Employees working the Project Working Hours on any night shift.
