The 'Additional Unpaid Leave' clause allows employees to take time off from work without pay beyond their standard leave entitlements. Additional Unpaid Leave. An employee may elect, with the consent of the employer, to take unpaid leave for the purpose of providing care to an immediate family member who is ill, injured or in order to assist with an unexpected emergency.

Additional Unpaid Leave. In the event of an extended leave of absence due to a single catastrophic accident or illness to the employee, and said employee has used all accumulated sick leave on or after the first day of work in the fiscal year, but prior to January 1, the employee shall be placed on uncompensated sick leave through the following June 30. Requests for an additional unpaid leave of absence will be submitted to the Board of School Directors. The decision whether to grant additional unpaid leave of absence by the Board is final and binding. If employee has used all accumulated sick leave on or after January 1 but prior to June 30, the employee shall be placed on unpaid sick leave until the following January 1; the Board of School Directors on an individual basis shall approve all further requests for extension of unpaid leave of absence.
Additional Unpaid Leave. Up to 5 total days of paid leave each year shall be granted to representatives of the MEA to conduct Association business. Employees who desire additional unpaid leave may submit a request to the school board as provided in NEB. REV. STAT. § 79-838.
