The Continuous Hours clause defines the maximum period an employee can work without a break. Typically, it sets a limit on consecutive working hours and mandates rest periods or meal breaks after a certain duration, such as requiring a break after five hours of continuous work. This clause ensures employee well-being and compliance with labor regulations by preventing excessive, uninterrupted work periods.
Continuous Hours. When an Employee is required to work during snow and ice operations for sixteen (16) continuous hours, he/she shall be given eight (8) hours off with pay. Such time shall be taken within one hundred eighty (180) calendar days. Time off shall be subject to the operating needs of the department and require prior approval of the supervisor which will not be unreasonably withheld.

Continuous Hours. Employees who work a total of fourteen (14) continuous hours, and is scheduled to work the following day, may request to change his/her starting time for the following day for up to a maximum of two (2) hours. The employee shall receive up to a maximum of two (2) hours paid administrative leave to cover the absence. Any dispute arising out of a denial of a request or the application of this provision shall not be subject to appeal in the grievances procedure. Issues and concerns regarding this provision will be addressed in a Special Conference or Labor/Management meeting.

Continuous Hours. JOB POSTINGS SHALL CONTAIN THE NAME OF THE JOB GROUP/CLASSIFICATION, DUTIES, SHIFT AND RATE OF PAY. EMPLOYEES WILL BE PROVIDED A FORM BY THE COMPANY TO INDICATE THEIR SELECTION BY SIGNING THE JOB POSTING WITH THEIR DATE OF SENIORITY. JOB POSTINGS SHALL BE AWARDED BY THE SECOND MONDAY FOLLOWING THAT THE POSTING HAS BEEN ADVERTISED FOR SEVENTY-TWO (72) HOURS, OR THE POSTINGS SHALL BE WITHDRAWN. JOB POSTINGS SHALL BE AWARDED ON THE BASIS OF SENIORITY AND QUALIFICATIONS. THE QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENT SHALL APPLY ONLY TO MAINTENANCE, SKILLED TRADES OR MATERIAL HANDLER POSITIONS. AN EMPLOYEE THAT HAS BEEN AWARDED A JOB POSTING MAY SELF DISQUALIFY ON OR BEFORE THE SEVENTH (7TH) CALENDAR DAY OF TRAINING. BEFORE COMPLETION OF TRAINING, THE COMPANY MAY DISQUALIFY A JOB AWARDEE FOR NOT BEING CAPABLE OF PERFORMING THE JOB COMPETENTLY. AN EMPLOYEE THAT IS DISQUALIFIED BY THE COMPANY DURING THE FIRST THIRTY (30) CALENDAR DAYS OF TRAINING SHALL RETURN TO THEIR PRIOR JOB GROUP/CLASSIFICATION SENIORITY PERMITTING. THE DISQUALIFIED EMPLOYEE WILL BE GIVEN THE REASON FOR DISQUALIFICATION IN WRITING. INDIVIDUAL EMPLOYEES MAY TEMPORARILY EXCHANGE SHIFTS WHEN THE EMPLOYEES INVOLVED ARE AGREED AND IT IS APPROVED BY THE COMPANY. TEMPORARY SHIFT CHANGE SHALL NOT EXCEED THIRTY (30) CALENDAR DAYS. SUCH SHIFT CHANGE MUST BE IN WRITING.

  • Continuous Operation The work week shall provide for continuous operation based on a seven (7) day week, twenty-four (24) hours per day.

  • Continuous Operations Any employee or group of employees engaged in an operation for which there is regularly scheduled employment on a twenty-four (24) hour a day, seven (7) day a week basis shall be known as continuous operations employees.

  • Continuous Employment For purposes of this Agreement, the continuous employment of the Grantee with the Company or a Subsidiary shall not be deemed to have been interrupted, and the Grantee shall not be deemed to have ceased to be an employee of the Company or Subsidiary, by reason of (a) the transfer of the Grantee’s employment among the Company and its Subsidiaries or (b) an approved leave of absence.
