The "Leave for Union Position" clause allows employees to take a leave of absence from their regular job in order to accept a position within their labor union. Leave for Union Position. An employee who is elected or selected for a full-time position with the Union, Saskatchewan Federation of Labour or Canadian Labour Congress, shall be granted leave of absence without loss of seniority for a period of one year. Such leave shall be renewed each year, upon request, during his term of office. Such employee shall continue to receive his salary and benefits from the Employer, conditional on reimbursement of such salary and full benefit costs by the Union to the Employer.

Such employee, upon one month's notice of his/her desire to return to work with the Company, shall subject to his/her seniority and ability to satisfactorily perform the required work, be placed in the position previously held or one at an equal rate of pay. If such positions are not available the employee shall, subject to seniority and ability, be placed on a job he/she can satisfactorily perform, retaining the seniority possessed at the time such leave of absence was granted.
