Recurrent Disability. If an employee, having ceased to be totally disabled returns to full-time work and within six months again becomes totally disabled from the same or related cause, the qualifying period will not again be applicable. This would be considered as "one continuous period of disability". If a full-time employee, having ceased to be totally disabled, returns to work and again becomes totally disabled from a different cause or, if from the same cause, more than six months after cessation of the previous disability, the qualifying period will again be applicable.
Recurrent Disability. If you become Disabled due to the same cause or causes within [6] [12] full months after the end of a period of Disability for which Disability Benefits had been paid, the later period of Disability will be considered a Recurrent Disability. Disability Benefits paid for a Recurrent Disability are considered a continuation of the preceding period of Disability and will not be subject to a new Benefit Waiting Period. However, Disability Benefits paid for a Recurrent Disability are subject to the Maximum Benefit Period that started with the preceding period of Disability, and, if the Maximum Benefit Period had ended with respect to the preceding Disability, benefits will not be payable for a Recurrent Disability. If you become Disabled due to the same cause or causes after the end of a period of Disability for which Disability Benefits had been paid and you have been working for at least 30 hours per week for at least [6] [12] consecutive months, the later period of Disability will be considered a ICC17-B180(07/17) Page 9 new period of Disability. A new Benefit Waiting Period must be satisfied before benefits are payable, and a new Maximum Benefit Period will apply. Also, if you become Disabled due to a different or unrelated cause or causes after the end of a period of Disability for which Disability Benefits had been paid, the later period of Disability will be considered a new period of Disability. Disability Benefits for a Disability caused or contributed to by a Pre-existing Condition, or by a medical or surgical treatment of a Pre-existing Condition, will be payable only if the Pre-existing Condition is fully disclosed in the application and it is not specifically excluded from coverage by amendment or endorsement. immediately prior to the Policy Effective Date: • you have consulted a physician or any other licensed medical professional, or received medical treatment or services; • you have undergone diagnostic procedures or you have taken prescription drugs or medications; or • a reasonably prudent person would have sought medical advice, care or treatment.
Recurrent Disability. A successive disability as certified by a physician, chiropractor or dentist is considered to be the same disability if separated by less than three (3) months of active full time work or separated by less than one (1) month of active full time work and due to a wholly different cause.
Recurrent Disability. If the employee recovers from a total disability during the benefit waiting period and becomes disabled again due to the same or related cause as the previous disability, the subsequent periods of disability will be considered a continuation of the first period of disability, as long as the employee has not returned to full-time active work for more than 15 days in total during the initial benefit waiting period. After the benefit waiting period, a recurrence of a disability due to the same or related cause within six (6) months of return to full-time work will be considered a continuation of the previous period of disability, provided that the employee has been continuously insured with us.

A disability income benefit is payable if disability results from a mental, nervous or emotional disease or disorder which requires regular care of a Physician who is also certified to practice as a Psychiatrist.
Recurrent Disability. If you become Totally Disabled again from the same or related causes within six (6) months from the end of the period for which Long Term Disability benefits were paid, the LTD Group Benefit Carrier will treat the disability as a continuation of your previous disability. You will not be required to satisfy the Qualifying Period again. The benefit payable to you will be based on your earnings as at the date of your previous disability. Benefits for all such recurrent disabilities will not be paid for a combined period longer than the Maximum Benefit Period for this benefit. If the same disability recurs more than six (6) months after the end of the period for which benefits were paid, such disability will be considered a separate disability. Two (2) disabilities which are due to unrelated causes are considered separate disabilities if they are separated by a return to work of at least one (1) day.
Recurrent Disability. If, after termination of any period of disability for which you have received weekly indemnity payments, you again become disabled as a result of the same or related disability, a new period of disability will be established if you have recovered completely and return to work between disabilities for a continuous period of fourteen (14) consecutive days or less or if you have not recovered completely but are able to perform the essential duties of your job and returned to work between disabilities for a continuous period of fourteen (14) consecutive days or less.

After the termination of insurance, a recurrence of a disability due to the same or related cause which first occurred while insured will be considered a continuation of the previous period of disability, provided that the two (2) periods of disability are not separated by more than six (6) months. Premiums which fall due, during continuing disability, will be waived commencing with the first premium which falls due after benefits have been payable for one (1) month.
