STAFF TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT. 18.01 It is the intent of the Employer to develop and implement appropriate and relevant Staff Training and Development programmes and/or information to provide an opportunity for employees to upgrade their skills and knowledge in areas directly related to their work, including but not limited to familiarization with Employer policy and procedures.
18.02 Where compulsory or voluntary "in house" training sessions are made available to employees in accordance with training calendars as issued by the Employer, time during regular work hours spent by employees in attendance will be paid for at the employee's normal rate of pay on a straight time basis. Time spent outside of regular work hours by employees in attendance at job related training will be paid for at the employee's normal rate of pay on a straight time basis.
18.03 Where an employee and supervisor identify additional training or developmental needs which may be met by attendance at a conference, workshop, or seminar outside of the Employer's own training program, and the necessary funds are available, the Director may authorize attendance by the employee. The Employer recognizes that pre-retirement education is an appropriate training subject to be dealt with under this section.
18.04 In such cases the Employer may pay registration and/or conference fees, and when the conference, workshop or seminar is held in another city, the Employer may also pay reasonable transportation and lodging where required as well as necessary out of pocket expenses in accordance with normal practice. Additionally, employees will suffer no loss of pay as a result of such attendance should all or part of the training require their absence during regular working hours.

30.02 The Employer will maintain a collection of books and other resources on issues concerning violence against women, and make them available to employees.
30.03 The Employer will endeavour to keep staff informed of new developments, services and information relevant to clients through posting notices on the bulletin board.
30.04 The Employer will provide on-the-job training and related staff development opportunities in the form of seminars, courses and conferences. Notices of relevant training opportunities will be posted on the bulletin board.
30.05 To provide training opportunities, the Employer will allocate a reasonable sum of money in the budget each year to be used for staff training and development. The Employer will provide at the beginning of each fiscal year to Labour-Management Relations Committee the amount of funds available for staff training and development to assist them in recommending training/professional development applications.
30.06 Expenditures from this fund will be made on the recommendations of the Labour- Management Relations Committee. The Employer will regularly provide to the Labour-Management Relations Committee the number of applicants approved and cost of each training approved.
30.07 In making decisions concerning staff training and development, the Committee shall take into account the following factors:
a) the current and future needs of the Employer's services
b) the benefits to clients
c) the professional development requests of individual employees
d) the wishes of any employee affected, and e) fairness between all employees.
30.08 The Committee may develop guidelines and procedures related to staff training and development, including designating specific training opportunities as essential for specific employees.
30.09 Attendance at any training opportunity designated as essential shall be without cost to the employee, and without loss of pay or benefits.
30.10 Attendance at other training opportunities not designated as essential shall be on such terms as are determined by the Labour-Management Relations Committee.
30.11 A permanent full-time or permanent part-time employee who has completed three

STAFF TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT. 19.01 Where employees are assigned to train new employees by a senior manager, assigned employees shall receive a $1.00 per hour premium for all hours worked during the training period. Assigned employees shall give progress reports as requested.
19.02 The Employer will assign training based on interest and qualifications. The Employer will provide education to those employees that are interested and qualified. If there is more than one qualified trainer available, the senior most qualified employee shall be assigned to train the new employee.
STAFF TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT. 64. Subject to practical needs and availability of resources, the Parties agree to assist in providing training for staff of the other Party on relevant topics and consider staff secondment as and when appropriate.
STAFF TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT. 22.01 The Employer recognizes its responsibility to encourage development of staff skills, ability and qualifications.
22.02 Developmental opportunities will be posted on the bulletin boards for a minimum of seven (7) days and will invite interested employees to apply.
22.03 Attendance at any training that is required by the Employer after the employee is hired, shall be without cost to the employee and with pay. The training shall be scheduled during the employees working day, whenever possible. When the training is scheduled on the employee’s day of rest, then the employee shall be paid at the applicable overtime rate.

STAFF TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT. 41.01 Attendance at any training opportunity designated by the Employer as essential shall be without cost to Employee, and without loss of pay or benefits.
41.02 Relief employees who miss scheduled training without cause will have the cost of the missed training deducted from their pay.
41.03 Full-time employees who miss scheduled training without cause will have to complete the missed scheduled training at their own cost and on their own time as well as reimburse the Employer for the cost of the missed training.
