The Company will provide for employees who are pregnant and who operate VDT’s or CRT’s protective screens for the duration of the pregnancy upon the employee’s request. 14.10.3 A Joint Health and Safety Committee shall be constituted consisting of an equal number of representatives of Management and the Union, which shall identify potential dangers and health hazards, and obtain information from the Company or other persons respecting the identification of hazards and health and safety experience and work practices and standards elsewhere. The committee shall meet at least once a month. Notes shall be taken of all meetings and copies shall be sent to the company and the Union. Time spent on the Safety Committee to attend meetings or inspections will be considered as time worked. 14.10.4 Two (2) representatives of the Joint Health and Safety Committee, one (1) from Management and one (1) from the Union, shall make periodic inspections of the work place and equipment and shall report to the Health and Safety Committee the results of their inspection. Time spent on such inspections shall be considered as time worked. 14.10.5 The Joint Health and Safety Committee shall have access to the accident reports submitted to the Insurance Company and the government or its agencies. 14.10.6 A first aid kit will be maintained on the premises and in all Company vehicles. Excessive Hours and Safety. 34.1 The Employer agrees to give proper attention to the health and safety of its employees. 34.2 The Company agrees to adhere to all the provisions of the Workers' Compensation Act of British Columbia and the "Canada Labour Code" and all rules and regulations thereto and any other statute provincially or federally dealing with the safety and health of the Company's employees. 34.3 Having due regard to health and safety, the Company agrees to try to equalize the work load so that any individual employee is not repeatedly scheduled excessive hours of work. 34.4 When dangerous or hazardous work is involved, all reasonable safety and precautionary measures shall be taken by the Company. No employee shall be disciplined or discharged for refusal to work on a job or in any work place or to operate any equipment where there is reasonable grounds to believe that it would be unsafe or injurious to their health to do so or where it would be contrary to applicable Federal, Provincial or Municipal regulations or legislation. Problems involving safety and health are to be discussed between the Safety Committee members prior to calling in inspectors from either the Federal Department of Labour or the Workers' Compensation Board. Excessive Hours and Safety. 13.1 It shall be the responsibility of the Producer to insure that optimum safety standards are maintained and that no unsafe equipment, procedures, or practices are allowed on the set or work site. All hazardous work shall be accepted by Technicians on a voluntary basis only. 13.3 Where a job requires special clothing and / or protective gear, (i.e. extremes in cold or hot weather, precipitation, altitude, in or under water, in or around construction work, etc) the Producer will provide the Technicians with such special clothing and / or protective gear. 13.4 All Technicians shall be covered by the Workers Safety and Insurance Board of Ontario (or the equivalent in another province, territory or country in which the Producer is based or operating) or its equivalent coverage by a private insurance carrier and the Producer shall bear the full costs of such coverage and shall provide the Union with confirmation that such insurance is in effect. 13.5 In no event will sanitary facilities be less than as provided for by Provincial Law. 13.6 The Producer, the Union and the Technicians shall comply with their obligations under the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act. 13.7 The Producer shall provide washroom and toilet facilities at all sites and locations and shall be maintained on a standard to those required by the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board. 13.8 Notwithstanding Article 13.3, the Technician shall supply his/her own harness when performing high work.
