When EMDH issues a new hat to an employee working in either a dining center or catering as part of that employee’s EMDH uniform, the employee will be offered the alternative of choosing either a hat with or without “AFSCME Local 1110” embroidered on the back of the hat. Employees will not be entitled to more than the number of hats provided for the employee’s classification. This paragraph does not apply to employees working in retail venues. Uniforms may not be altered in any way by employees. Employees in the Automotive Technician, Grounds Equipment Mechanic, Grounds Worker, Grounds Gardener, Nursery Worker, and Tree Surgeon classifications shall receive up to $175.00 each fiscal year towards the purchase of required safety shoes/boots, provided they are in need of replacement, at participating vendor locations determined by the Employer. Any cost above and beyond the allowance provided in this provision shall be the employee’s responsibility. Grounds’ employees will be provided either winter bibs and a jacket OR a pair of coveralls before October 31, 2022. Grounds’ employees hired after October 31, 2022 will be provided either winter bibs and a jacket OR a pair of coveralls within the first year of employment. The apparel to be provided is at the sole discretion of the Employer. The provided apparel will be replaced on an as needed basis, if necessary, due to normal wear and tear.
Uniforms and Shoes. The Board shall provide each custodian with three (3) sets of uniforms each year and either one (1) pair of work shoes or up to $125 towards the purchase of work shoes upon presentation of a receipt. Uniforms will be replaced when necessary, but no later than once every two years. 26.03 Safety requirements make it mandatory that all employees wear safety shoes while in any area of the distribution centre. 26.04 The Company will reimburse up to $145 per calendar year, for the purchase of safety shoes. The Company will utilize a shoe truck service as its primary provider. The employee has the right to purchase shoes outside of this primary provider and submit for reimbursement within the dollar amount listed above. 26.05 To be eligible for this allowance the employee must be a full-time permanent employee who has completed his/her probationary period.

All Food Service employees will receive a maximum reimbursement of $125 for the purchase of black, dark gray, or navy blue pants (no denim). All reimbursement requests must be submitted by October 31st or after the completion of a new hires probationary period. Section 4: Uniform CommitteeThe Union shall choose three bargaining unit members to serve on the uniform committee to meet with two District designated Food Service Administrators at least once per year to discuss the selection of uniforms. The Union must provide the names of the three bargaining unit members serving on the committee by January 31st, annually. The committee will make the final recommendation to the Director if the majority agrees. If there's no agreement, the Director will make the final determination.

Five aprons will be provided by the District, in each year of the contract. 4. Permanent unit members will be supplied with two free uniforms each year, given as soon as possible. Upon the successful completion of the 130 days worked probationary period, the District will reimburse the unit member for the purchase of such uniforms up to a maximum of two. The probationary unit member must, as a condition to reimbursement, present the receipt or receipts showing the actual purchase of the District-designated uniform.
