JOB VACANCIES AND TEMPORARY ASSIGNMENTS. Cont’d 15.02 An employee temporarily assigned to a different job classification will be paid the next higher of her basic rate or that of the job classification to which she is temporarily assigned for all hours worked. 15.03 Any employee covered by this Agreement and who through advancing years or disablement through employment is unable to perform her regular duties shall be given the opportunity of performing work within her capabilities if such should be available. 15.04 Employees may be hired for a specific term not to exceed six (6) months, to replace an employee who will be on vacation, approved leave of absence, absence due to W.S.I.B. disability or sick leave. Employees may be hired for a specific term not to exceed six (6) months to perform a special non-recurring task. This term may be extended a further six (6) months on mutual agreement of the Union, employee and Company. The period of employment of such persons will not exceed the absentee’s leave or the length of the non-recurring task. The release or discharge of such persons shall not be the subject of a grievance or arbitration. 15.05 Vacancies on the day shift created as a result of an employee being absent due to either illness or leave of absence for a minimum period of six (6) weeks, shall be posted for interested afternoon shift employees to make application when it is known that the employee’s absence is expected to be more than six (6) weeks. Notations shall be made on the posting that the vacancy is due to the absence of the employee.

JOB VACANCIES AND TEMPORARY ASSIGNMENTS. 15.01 Notices of fulltime vacancies within the scope of this Agreement will be posted for not less than seven (7) calendar days prior to filling the vacancy so posted. The date upon which the vacancy is posted will be added on the job posting. Appointments to the permanent vacancies will be the most senior applicant able to meet the normal requirements of the job. The successful candidate will have her name posted on the Notice Board. During such posting period the Company may temporarily fill the vacancy as it sees fit. The placement/appointment of the successful candidate will not be unreasonably withheld.

  • Temporary Assignments When an employee is assigned temporarily by his/her appointing authority to a job for which he/she is qualified in a higher pay grade for a period of five (5) days or his/her regular workweek, whichever is less, the employee shall be paid retroactively from the initial date of the temporary transfer for the duration of the temporary assignment. The employee shall be paid as if he/she had been promoted during such assignment. In no event may an employee acquire any status in a higher classification as a result of his/her temporary assignment. Acting capacity assignments shall not be made on an arbitrary or capricious basis. Employees shall not be rotated in acting capacity in an arbitrary or capricious manner in order to avoid payment of acting capacity pay. This Article shall not be used in lieu of the proper processing of any request for reclassification or reallocation of a position pursuant to the Personnel Rules and the Reclassifications Article, or the filling of a vacancy pursuant to the Personnel Rules and the Seniority Article.

  • Pay on Temporary Assignment An employee temporarily assigned by the Employer to a position with a rate of pay lower than her regular rate of pay shall maintain her regular rate of pay.

  • Temporary Assignment Notwithstanding Article 2.04(b)(iii), Regular or Temporary Employees may be assigned to relieve others for additional duties. (a) Where an Employee is assigned to temporarily replace another Employee who is receiving a Responsibility Allowance as per Article 16.01, such Employee shall receive an amount not greater than the amount provided in Article 16.01. (b) When an Employee is assigned to replace another Employee in a higher paid classification for one (1) full Shift or longer, the Employee shall be paid an additional amount equal to the differential between the Employee's current rate of pay and the equivalent step for the more senior classification in which the Employee is relieving. (c) When an Employee is assigned to replace another person in an out-of-scope position at a more senior level for one (1) full Shift or longer, the Employee shall be paid an additional $2.00 per hour.

  • Temporary Vacancies The Company and the Union recognize that temporary employees may be required to temporarily provide additional manpower due to vacation, weekly indemnity, excess of work, etc. All temporary employees performing bargaining unit work are members of the bargaining unit and as such all terms and conditions of the collective agreement apply except as herein provided. Individuals may be hired to fill temporary vacancies. Temporary vacancies and employees shall last a maximum of eight (8) calendar weeks. This does not prevent the Company and the Union from mutually agreeing to extend the eight (8) week limitation on an individual basis. However, unless there is written agreement to the contrary, the eight (8) calendar week limitation shall be respected. Should the position be made permanent, the job will be posted as per 9.07(e). Any skills or experience gained by the temporary employee while in the temporary job, shall not be used to determine him more suitable for the position than the employee with seniority who applies. Prior to any layoff all temporary employees will be terminated. Overtime will only be offered to temporary employees after all qualified senior and probationary employees within the classification concerned have refused. Public holidays will be paid to the temporary employees as per the Employment Standards Act Part X (10). Temporary employees will be hired for the applicable classification and wage rate as per Appendix A of the Collective Agreement. Should a temporary employee apply for a job posting and be successful as per Article 9.07 of the Collective Agreement the temporary employee shall then become a probationary employee. The seniority date of a temporary employee who is awarded a full-time position will equal the date the full-time position is awarded. No person, who is or has been employed by the Company outside of the bargaining unit, shall be eligible to work as a temporary employee within the bargaining unit, unless his record of employment with the Company has been severed in excess of one week.

  • Work Assignments Section 1. The Company shall determine whether to staff a position or fill a vacancy and the method or combination of methods it shall use for such purposes. In making this determination, the Company shall first give consideration to qualified internal candidates prior to off-street applicants. All vacancies within the Bargaining Unit shall be posted (manually or electronically) in such a fashion as to be accessible by employees. The posting shall include the title, pay range, and sufficient information regarding requirements and duties to adequately describe the vacancy. The vacancy shall remain posted for seven (7) calendar days. Section 2. In connection with Section 1. above, employees who have met a twelve (12) month time-in-title and location requirement shall be afforded the opportunity to submit to the Company a form on which they may identify their interest in being considered for vacancies which occur in the Bargaining Unit. Section 3. When a vacancy is to be filled from within the Bargaining Unit, Management will consider all qualified candidates who have forms on file relating to the vacancy in question. In selecting the employee to fill the position, the Company will first give due consideration to the candidates’ qualifications and past performance and where those factors are relatively equal, in the judgment of the Company, it shall consider seniority. Section 4. The Company agrees to provide the Union, in writing, the names and titles of all candidates selected under this Article, by the fifteenth (15th) calendar day after any such selection is made. Section 5. Nothing in this Agreement shall be applied or interpreted to restrict the Company in the exercise of its right to hire, promote or transfer; and, to the extent the needs of the business require, to have Bargaining Unit work performed by its supervisory personnel, or its right to make sales assignments without limitations.
