The Special Duty Assignments clause defines the terms under which an employee may be temporarily assigned to duties outside their regular job description. Typically, this clause outlines the process for selecting employees for such assignments, the duration, and any changes in compensation or benefits that may apply during the assignment period. Its core function is to provide flexibility for the employer to address short-term operational needs or special projects while ensuring that employees understand the expectations and conditions associated with these temporary roles.
Special Duty Assignments. It is recognized that from time to time it may be advantageous to an individual and to the University for Bargaining Unit members to be released from instructional duties in connection with specific research, scholarly, administrative duties, or creative programs. The ▇▇▇▇ or Library Director must forward his/her recommendations for special duty assignments, along with the recommendations submitted by the Department Chairperson in consultation with the members of the Department, to the ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ and Vice President for Academic Affairs. The terms and conditions of such special duty assignments will be mutually agreed upon by the individual and the Administration subject to approval by the Board of Trustees.
Special Duty Assignments. Section 1: EMS Training Paramedic (a) One (1) member that is a licensed Paramedic and possesses certification as a EMS Instructor I shall be assigned to the EMS Division to serve as an EMS Training Paramedic. This assignment shall be assigned to a thirty-eight (38) hour workweek.
Special Duty Assignments. Employees assigned to one of the following special duty positions shall receive a three percent (3%) base wage adjustment for the duration of the assignment: Field Training Officer (FTO) and FTO Coordinator; Court Deputies and Sergeant (including the Float Sergeant when assigned to Court); Chemical Dependency Program Deputies; Correctional Options Program Deputies and Sergeants; Program Lieutenant; Inmate Services Deputy, Sergeant, and Lieutenant; Medical Liaison Deputy; and K-9*.
Special Duty Assignments. The number and assignment of employees to the special duty outlined below shall be at the sole and exclusive discretion of the City. Such special duty is not to be considered as a separate grade or rank, and is understood by the parties to be temporary in nature and assigned or withdrawn at the sole discretion of the Chief of Police. Selection for special duty assignments shall be based on a determination and evaluation of the individual display of specific skills/abilities per policy. Such special duty assignments may require the successful completion of specialized police training and/or certification procedures designated by the Chief of Police. Members of the Bargaining Unit assigned special duty for less than one week shall not be eligible for any partial compensation. Special duty pay is authorized only for one special duty assignment and multiple payments are not authorized, except as specifically noted.
Special Duty Assignments. A. The Chief of Police may, in response to operational and/or programmatic demands, assign a permanent employee(s) to Special Duty Assignment (SDA) in one of the following areas with accompanying supplemental compensation indicated as a percentage of base pay or annual supplement, as appropriate: * Detached Personnel (4%) (law enforcement agency or police academy) * Field Training Officer (4% of base Pay) Letter * K-9 Officer (4% of base pay) * Youth Crime Watch (2.5% of base pay paid by assigned school) * Detective and Detective Supervisor (4% of base pay) * Public Information Officer (4%) * Police Instructor (4%) * Attached Personnel (4%) (function within the agency or as determined by committee comprised of (1) FOP 133 Executive Board Member, (1) Police Command Staff Member, and (1) M-DCPS Administrative Director assigned to the Office of Labor Relations) B. The following position assignment is lateral and does not have supplemental compensation: * Honor Guard C. Personnel may be detached from a primary assignment to a temporary duty assignment when it is deemed necessary by management to address operational and/or programmatic demands. The Police Chief reserves the right to detach employees to positions outside the department. There will be no designated time period for a detached position, due to the nature of the assignment. D. M-DSPD shall maintain job descriptions for all Special Duty Assignments to include minimum and special qualification requirements for assignments to Special Duty. E. Special Duty Assignments shall be announced in advance, whenever possible. The announcement will include: * filing period; * a statement of duties and responsibilities; * qualification requirements; * procedures for applying; and * the applicable selection process and procedures.
Special Duty Assignments. Members shall be permitted to work special duty assignments so long as any such special duty assignment does not conflict with the member’s regular work schedule and is approved by the Chief. The rate of pay for special duty shall be set by the Chief after consultation with the Lodge. All special duty assignments, approved by the Chief, within the City of Bexley, shall be worked by members or other officers of the Department. If necessary, any and all special duty assignments may be divided into shifts between two (2) or more members as may be necessary to provide coverage for said assignments. If no members are available to cover a special duty assignment, it may be covered by officers of Departments other than the City of Bexley. If on-duty personnel and vehicles are available for such use, the Department may permit a member to be transported in a cruiser, from police headquarters to and from the special duty assignment, within the City of Bexley. A member shall be allowed to use regular Departmental equipment (including a walkie and flares) in his or her special duty assignment.

Special Duty Assignments. Bargaining unit employees who are awarded a special duty assignment, that is posted on the special duty calendar, must either work the assignment or must attempt to reassign it to someone else who had previously signed up for the same job, by seniority. In the event that no one else who had signed up for that specific assignment is still interested in working it, then the person originally awarded the assignment may reassign it to any other approved employee. Any employee who reassigns a special duty job contrary to the language set forth in this section three times in a calendar year will be barred from working special duty for ninety days. The special duty coordinator must be notified of any reassignment under this section in accordance with Section 27.3 E above.
Special Duty Assignments. The Sheriff's Department agrees to conform to the following procedure when selecting personnel for Sheriff’s Deputy II and Custody Deputy II assignments: 1. Notice of vacant Sheriff’s Deputy II and Custody Deputy II assignments shall be posted at all stations for 10 days prior to filling of the position. The notice of vacancy shall contain the required qualifications for the position, the criteria to be used to select a list of eligible candidates, and the personnel to be involved in the Division Commander's recommendation. 2. The Division Commander's recommendation(s) shall be routed to his/her Chief Deputy. 3. The Chief Deputy shall, at his/her sole discretion, select the Deputy for the assignment.
