Weekend Assignments Clause Samples

The Weekend Assignments clause establishes the rules and expectations for work or tasks assigned to employees or contractors during weekends. Typically, it outlines whether weekend work is mandatory or voluntary, any additional compensation or time-off entitlements, and the process for notifying or scheduling such assignments. This clause ensures clarity regarding weekend work obligations, helping to prevent misunderstandings and manage workload distribution fairly.
Weekend Assignments. “This provision is not applicable to a casual employee (except a casual employee while in a Temporary Position)”.
Weekend Assignments a. Weekend assignments will be equally distributed throughout the year on a rotating basis, with assignments distributed as far apart as is practical. b. When scheduled or unscheduled time off causes a disruption in the rotation, management retains the right to reschedule assignments within the framework of an equal distribution.

Employees may agree with the employer to be available to work more than one (1) weekend in each three (3) week period. Where operational requirements indicate there is a need for more employees to be available to work on weekends and this is expected to be an on-going requirement, the employer will notify the affected employees within the 25% exempted group of the change in weekend assignments. Such changes will be done on a quarterly basis and with a minimum of two (2) weeks’ notice to the employees affected. Only the minimum number of employees required to meet the additional weekend needs shall be affected, and shall be assigned in reverse order of seniority. (b) In each Site Service Area for all remaining employees the Employer will endeavour to provide two (2) weekends off in three (3), but will schedule a minimum of every second weekend off, except where there is mutual agreement between the Employer and an employee to work more weekends.
