Pupil Contact Time. Pupil Contact: That period of time during the instructional day in which a teacher has assigned responsibilities for a student and/or students. a. Teachers at all levels will have no more than 320 minutes of pupil contact time per day. Included in this is conference period time and homeroom time. b. An average of five (5) preparation periods per full school week will be provided each secondary teacher during the instructional day and is not to be considered a part of the pupil contact time. All secondary teachers will teach twenty-five instructional periods per week, not to exceed 320 minutes per day, unless relieved of certain of these periods by the building principal. Every effort will be made to schedule English teachers of Grades 9-12 to meet with no more than 100 students per day. However, the maximum number of students will be no more than 110 per day. c. Each principal shall provide the elementary teacher a single planning period of at least 20 minutes per normal school day. Under some conditions this daily period may be waived; however, the total planning time shall average 100 minutes per full school week. The planning period must constitute a break in pupil contact time. d. Teaching in Shaker Heights is recognized as a profession, and teachers are trained professionally, each with specialized knowledge, talents and interests which contribute to the educational offerings of the system. In view of this, it is the policy of this District to give them assignments that will permit maximum utilization of their certified/licensed teaching areas. e. Teacher assignments are made during the hours that children are expected in school. Teachers may be asked to supervise special school events taking place before or after normal school hours including PTO Open Houses. Teachers shall exercise general supervisory authority over all students in their schools even though not so specifically assigned. School administrators have a responsibility and shall support teachers in these activities. f. In addition to the 320 minutes of pupil contact time in 9.03(a), teachers shall be available after school to help students who require additional assistance.

Pupil Contact Time. ‌‌ A. Pupil contact time is defined as the number of minutes of scheduled class periods to which a teacher is assigned instruction and/or supervisory duties. Conference attendance or visitation 6. Special assembly programs 7. Schedule adjustments made for field days or other activities 8. Conferences with supervisors (one-day notice) 9. Sudden illness or inadequate notice of absence by teacher D. Pupil Contact Time. The Administration, in its sole discretion, may schedule up to three hundred and five (305) minutes of pupil contact (instructional) time per day per teacher in all schools, based upon a full day.
Pupil Contact Time a. BOCES staff located in self-contained buildings, i.e., career development centers and alternative program centers, will be provided with a duty-free planning period and a duty-free lunch period. Part-time employees shall have their schedules adjusted accordingly. b. BOCES staff, located in component schools, may have students in attendance during regents week. BOCES administration will work with component schools to provide special area instruction to the extent possible during these days. BOCES staff who have students in attendance will not be required to ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ component school local or Regents examinations during this week.

It specifically excludes homeroom and the ten (10) minutes before and twenty (20) minutes after school. The pupil contact time for classroom teachers assigned to the high school and the middle schools shall not exceed 1250 minutes per week and 1500 minutes per week at the elementary school, averaged over the school year. (b) A full teaching load is considered the equivalent of 5 full classes per day at the high school and middle school level, and the equivalent of 6 full classes per day at the elementary level. An extra class taught at the middle school or high school in all subject areas will receive 1/5 of the person’s FTE salary as additional compensation. An extra class taught at the elementary level in all subject areas will receive 1/6 of the person’s FTE salary as additional compensation. (c) All high school teachers shall teach five (5) periods and will not be assigned a duty/supervision period. In place of a duty, teachers shall be provided with an additional preparation period reserved for collaborative planning. (d) Pupil Contact time: Planning time shall total an average of 200 minutes per week.

In responding to calls, neither Party will make disparaging remarks about the other Party. To the extent the correct provider can be determined, misdirected calls received by either Party will be referred to the proper provider of Local Exchange Service; however, nothing in this Agreement shall be deemed to prohibit Qwest or CLEC from discussing its products and services with CLEC's or Qwest's End User Customers who call the other Party. 10.1 In the event Qwest terminates Service to CLEC for any reason, CLEC will provide any and all necessary notice to its End User Customers of the termination. In no case will Qwest be responsible for providing such notice to CLEC's End User Customers.
