Standby and Callback.
13:01 Standby is that time duly authorized by the Employer in writing, during which an employee is required to be “on call” and available to report for duty without undue delay.
13:02 To be eligible for standby payment, an employee designated for standby duty must be available during the period of standby at a known telephone number or by another method of communication as mutually agreed between the supervisor and the employee, and must be available to report for duty as quickly as possible if called.

13:04 A callback is defined as a call which requires an employee to report for duty during the period between completion of regularly scheduled hours of work and subsequent starting time. A call-back shall conclude when all emergent work has been completed as confirmed with the Supervisor in charge except where such requirement is specifically exempted by the Employer.
13:05 Any employee designated for standby duty who is required to report for duty shall be compensated for not less than three (3) hours for each such callback. Callback rates shall be in accordance with Memorandum of Agreement #1 - Application of Overtime Rates for Callback.

13:07 When an employee is returning for duty as a result of a callback and the callback is cancelled prior to the employee arriving at the worksite the employee shall be paid one (1) hour at straight time rates. (In the case of an EMS callback it is understood that where one employee has arrived at the station and the co-worker has not arrived at the station at the time the callback is cancelled, each employee shall be paid one hour at straight time rates.)
13:08 An employee who is required to report for duty on a callback shall be reimbursed for transportation costs at the applicable mileage rate with a guaranteed minimum of $4.00 per round trip.

Standby and Callback. No staff member is required to be on call. However, if he/she agrees to be on call, he/she shall receive fifty ($50.00) for each week that he/she undertakes these responsibilities. Where an employee is called back to work, he/she shall be compensated for the hours worked during such call back at his/her regular rate of pay in accordance with Article 18.01 as time off in lieu of pay, subject to Article 18.02.

(a) Employees in Supported Apartments who are required to be on regular standby shall be provided with a cell phone.
(b) Standby employees in Supported Apartments shall be awarded four (4) hours of time off with pay for each four (4) calendar day period that they are standing by.
(c) No compensation shall be granted for the standby period if the employee does not report for duty when required.
(d) An employee who is called back for work and who reports for work shall be reimbursed for transportation at the appropriate travel rate. Standby in Other Locations
(a) A full-time employee who is scheduled to work a holiday referred to in Article 20.1 in a home deemed by the Employer to require a standby arrangement may volunteer to standby rather than attend at work. Notwithstanding Article
20.1, the employee who volunteers to standby shall be paid at the straight time rate for standby hours.
(b) A part-time employee who is scheduled to work a holiday referred to in Article 20.5 in a home deemed by the Employer to require a standby arrangement may volunteer to standby rather than attend at work. Notwithstanding Articles 20.6 and 20.7, the employee who volunteers to standby shall be paid at the straight time rate for standby hours.
(c) A full-time or part-time employee who is not scheduled to work but is required to standby shall receive standby pay of one (1) hour’s pay for each period of standby of eight (8) hours or less.

23.1 Employees who are required by the College to standby shall receive standby pay in the amount of sixteen dollars ($16.00) for each standby period of eight (8) hours or less. For clarity, standby pay shall apply where an Employee is assigned to carry a cell phone or other electronic messaging device for a standby period of eight (8) hours or less.
23.2 An Employee designated for standby duty shall be available during the Employee's period of standby duty at a known telephone number and be able to report for duty as quickly as possible if called.
23.3 No compensation shall be granted for the total period of standby if the Employee is unable to report for duty when required.
Standby and Callback. A stand-by duty roster and schedule may be established by the Employer at certain facilities when, in the opinion of the Employer, it is necessary.
