Substitute Assignments Sample Clauses

Substitute Assignments. All substitute assignments shall be made by the appropriate manager. Faculty who will miss any portion of their scheduled assignment shall notify the appropriate manager as soon as practical.
Substitute Assignments. Regular day school vocational programs have traditionally experienced difficulty finding appropriately trained and certified substitutes to provide beneficial instruction to students. In order to provide a quality instructional experience to vocational students there exists a need for in-house PSMs to act in combination as part-time substitutes and part-time instructor/support services assignments. Where regular day school program enrollments do not justify full-time staffing assignments, and there exists a combination part-time substituting and part-time instructor/support services assignment for which the PSM is qualified, the Board may offer the PSM a combination assignment with substituting being the daily priority. When such circumstances occur, the PSM would be given the option to elect a less than full time assignment. Where PSMs are assigned a combination substituting and day school assignment, they will: (1) be compensated at the same rate of pay as the regular day school assignment. (2) be assigned a combination which is not less than a full-time contracted, salaried position with all associated benefits, and (3) be given first rights to the regular full-time day school assignment should circumstances justify reassignment. In situations requiring staffing changes in programs which have multiple instructors assigned, the option to accept the proposed non-standard assignment shall be offered to the affected employees on a seniority basis with the most senior having full opportunity to select the assignment.
Substitute Assignments. 18.5.1 The unit member shall request a substitute.
Substitute Assignments. A faculty employee who is assigned temporary substitute duty of a short duration, which shall normally be up to twenty (20) days, shall be compensated at the faculty substitute rate. Temporary substitute assignments of a longer duration, which shall normally be greater than twenty (20) days, shall be compensated by an appropriate workload reduction as soon as practicable or, if the employee is not employed in the next academic term, the employee shall be appropriately compensated upon separation for the class hours taught. For compelling reasons, a faculty employee may decline such an assignment. Nothing in this provision shall preclude faculty employees from making informal voluntary substitute arrangements of short duration with a University colleague, subject to the approval of the department chair.
Substitute Assignments. Substitute assignments will be compensated according to the Adjunct Salary Schedule (lecture, lab, or non-instructional rate in Section 17.7.3) provided such activities are assigned and approved in advance by the appropriate supervising administrator. Adjunct faculty members, who are not regularly employed as full-time faculty, shall not “cover” assignments without compensation, but must be hired as substitutes if they are to provide substitute services for faculty members who are absent. Adjunct faculty must notify the lead or appropriate supervising administrator and are not allowed to simply “trade” with another faculty member. The College will not compensate a substitute unless the appropriate supervising administrator authorizes substitution pay for the substitute. Submission of a leave of absence form by the absent faculty member (paid or unpaid leave) is required for processing appropriate leave regardless of whether a substitute is hired to cover the class(es).
Substitute Assignments. The college shall continue its practice of allowing adjunct faculty to teach as substitutes. The parties agree that the College has the authority to establish and administer the substitution procedure. When arranging for a substitute, Adjunct Faculty members shall follow the College substitution procedures.
Substitute Assignments. Teachers may recommend additions to the substitute list. In cases where a teacher knows of his/her absence in advance, the Administration will consider utilization of a substitute recommended by the teacher.
Substitute Assignments. If a teacher on the recall list is offered and accepts a substitute position, the teacher shall retain reinstatement rights to a teaching position for the period specified in 13.6.E.
Substitute Assignments. Member who is assigned temporary substitute duty of a short duration, which shall normally be up to three (3) days, shall be compensated at the highest associate faculty hourly lab rate. Temporary substitute assignments of a longer duration, which shall normally be greater than three (3) days, shall be compensated at the highest associate faculty lecture rate.
