Recognition and Rights of Stewards. (a) The Employer recognizes the Union's right to select stewards to represent employees. The Employer and the Union will agree on the number of stewards, taking into account both operational and geographic considerations.
(b) The Union agrees to provide the Employer with a list of the employees designated as stewards for each jurisdictional area.
(c) A ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇, or their alternate, shall obtain the permission of their immediate supervisor before leaving their work to perform their duties as a ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇. Leave for this purpose shall be with pay. Such permission shall not be unreasonably withheld. On resuming their normal duties, the ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ shall notify their supervisor.
(d) The duties of stewards shall include:
(1) investigation of complaints of an urgent nature;
(2) investigation of grievances and assisting any employee whom the ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ represents in presenting a grievance in accordance with the grievance procedure;
(3) supervision of ballot boxes and other related functions during ratification votes;
(4) attending meetings at the request of the Employer.

(3) supervision of ballot boxes and other related functions during ratification votes;
(4) carrying out duties within the realm of safety responsibilities, these being recognized as complaints of an urgent nature which require immediate attention; and
(5) attending meetings called by the Employer.

(1) one ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ for every 50 employees covered by this agreement, or a major portion thereof, with a minimum of two stewards to a maximum number of 25 stewards; and
(2) the Union may appoint additional stewards to allow for one ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ to be selected from the staff working at each premise operated by the Employer.

(c) A ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇, or his/her alternate where the ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ is absent, shall obtain the permission of his/her immediate supervisor before leaving his/her work to perform his/her duties as a ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇. Leave for this purpose shall be without loss of pay. Such permission shall not be unreasonably withheld. On resuming his/her normal duties, the ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ shall notify his/her supervisor.

This article is subject to the availability of a suitable employee, who shall accept responsibility for the care of equipment and facilities in the place of work while the election is being conducted.

(4) attending meetings at the request or with the prior permission of the Employer.

(b) The Union will provide the Employer with a list of employees designated as the chief ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ and alternate chief ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇, and stewards and indicate the jurisdiction for each ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇.
(c) The chief ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇, the alternate chief ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇, and ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ or his/her alternate from the designated stewards, shall obtain the permission of his/her immediate supervisor before leaving his/her work to perform duties as a chief ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ or as a ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇. On resuming his/her normal duties, the chief ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇, alternate chief ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇, ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ or alternate ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ shall notify his/her supervisor. Leave for this purpose shall not be unreasonably withheld and will be with pay. The duties of stewards shall include:
(1) investigation of complaints of an urgent nature;
(2) investigation of grievances and assisting any Employee whom the ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ represents in presenting and preparing the grievance in accordance with the grievance procedure;
(3) supervision of ballot boxes and other related functions during ratification votes;
(4) attending meetings at the request of the Employer;
(5) receiving and posting all job postings on designated bulletin boards; The duties of the chief ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ shall include all of the above and the following:
(6) representing the Union at Step 2 meetings to examine the facts and the nature of the grievance with an attempt to resolve the dispute.
(d) The Employer will provide the Union with the names and positions of its designated representatives for dealing with stewards.
