The Reduced Load clause allows a party, typically a buyer or customer, to decrease the amount of goods or services they are obligated to purchase or receive under a contract. In practice, this clause sets out the conditions under which the reduction can occur, such as providing advance notice or adhering to minimum purchase thresholds. Its core function is to provide flexibility for the buyer to adjust their commitments in response to changing needs, while also clarifying the process and limits to prevent disputes.
Reduced Load. Upon the written request of the Federation, at least six (6) weeks in advance of the beginning of any semester, the District shall grant a reduction in load to Faculty Members designated by the Federation. Such reduction in load for all such Faculty Members collectively shall not exceed one hundred percent (100%) per semester in addition to the reassigned time provided by Section 11. Such load reduction granted pursuant to Section 11 and this Section shall not affect the Faculty Member's eligibility for sabbatical leave, summer school priority, or eligibility for other leaves as herein provided. The Faculty Member's benefits as provided in Article 17, Insurance Benefits, will be maintained. The Federation shall, for any such reduction in load pursuant to this Section, reimburse the District at the cost to the District of the replacement for the Faculty Member at the Part-Time Faculty Member's stipend rate, the overload rate or the rate of replacement, whichever is applicable.
Reduced Load. In accordance with the limitations set forth in Education Code Section 87483, on the approval of the Board of Trustees, faculty members shall be granted the option of reduced load under the following rules: a. the faculty member must have reached the age of 55 prior to reduction in workload; b. the faculty member must have been employed full-time in a position that requires meeting minimum qualifications and District competency standards for at least 10 years, of which the immediately preceding five years were full-time employment, without a break in service. If a faculty member was on a board-approved paid leave at any time during the immediately preceding five years, such leave of absence will be counted as full-time employment, however, time spent on a sabbatical or other approved leave of absence shall not be used in computing the five-year full-time service requirement required under this subsection; c. the faculty member shall be paid a salary which is the pro-rata share of the salary he/she would be earning had he/she not elected to exercise the option of part-time employment but shall retain all other rights and benefits for which he/she makes the payments that would be required if he/she remained in full-time employment in accordance with .Education Code Section 87483(e); d. other non-monetary leave of absence benefits shall be reduced on a pro-rata basis in proportion to the amount of reduced load; e. the minimum part-time employment shall be the equivalent of one-half of the number of days of service required by the employee's contract of employment during his/her final year of service in a full-time position 87483(f) and; f. contributions to the State Teachers Retirement System (STRS) shall continue at the full salary amount unless state statute or rule or regulation of the STRS provide otherwise.
Reduced Load. 17.06.1 A tenured or probationary Employee may propose a plan to the Employer for reduced load status. Reduced load plans shall be based on the following terms and conditions: (i) sufficient notice must be given, normally nine (9) months. (ii) the plan shall indicate the teaching, research, service and other activities that the Employee shall carry out during the period involved. (iii) the Employee may choose revocable or irrevocable reduced load status. (ii) An Employee on revocable reduced load status shall maintain the same status as Full-time Employees with regard to any future programmes, such as early retirement incentives, that the University may offer to its Employees. 17.06.1.2 (i) Irrevocable reduced load status shall continue until resignation or retirement.

Reduced Load. Teaching faculty members may request a reduction in full-time load under the following conditions: 1. A faculty member desiring to take advantage of the option for reduced load must apply by February 15th of the preceding academic year. The request must identify the full duration of the reduction in load that may be for a period not to exceed three (3) academic years. Sick leave will accrue and will be charged on the basis of 0.5 days, regardless of the number of contact hours taught. Other contractual rights, as appropriate, shall remain in effect. Statutorily mandated benefits shall be impacted as required under the law. All other obligations required of a full-time faculty member shall be required on the same basis as if the faculty member was working full-time. These shall include, but not be limited to, office hours, service on committees, attendance at departmental and College meetings and commencement. 4. The teaching load after reduction may be from 18 to 24 contact hours annually. A minimum of 3 teaching days on campus is required for a load of 12 contact hours per semester and a minimum of 2 teaching days on campus is required for a load of 9 contact hours per semester. There may be ramifications of a reduced load on the faculty member’s pension benefits, as well as on the ability to participate in the health benefits through the State of New Jersey (for those who are eligible). Therefore, it is important that a faculty member electing reduced work load, particularly before retirement, contact the Division of Pensions and, if appropriate, the State Health Benefit Program, to examine the impact. 5. Reduced Load. A. At the commencement of the tenure year, a licensed unit member shall be granted a reduced load for one school year upon approval of the principal under the following conditions: 1. To request reduced load leave, the licensed unit member must apply to the current building principal for such leave no later than January 15 of the school year immediately preceding the school year in which the leave commences. The administration shall respond to the licensed unit member by April 1. 2. A licensed unit member may not exceed a maximum of eight (8) total years of accrued reduced load assignments during the member’s employment. 4. Once an individual accrues a total of eight (8) years of reduced load assignments, the individual will receive a full-time assignment for all subsequent years of employment. 5. A reduced load teaching assignment may be assigned as .4 FTE, .6 FTE or .8 FTE, such that the staff member would teach two (2), three (3) or four (4)
Reduced Load. 7.14.1. Full-time regular contract unit members are eligible for a reduction in workload. (See ARTICLE X - RETIREMENT.) 7.14.2. A reduced workload request shall be initiated by the employee and be forwarded through customary channels for the Governing Board approval. 7.14.3. Request for a reduced load shall be submitted prior to January 15 for the following academic year and prior to September 15 for the following Spring semester. Unit members teaching one-half of a full-time load may fulfill their assignment in either the Fall or Spring semester. Unit members on reduced load shall meet other contractual obligations in proportion to their workload. Their salary and fringe benefits shall be as follows: 7.14.4.1. The salary shall be in direct proportion to workload and with agreement of the District, prorated over twelve (12) months. 7.14.4.2. The employee shall retain all rights and benefits of a full-time employee, including all fringe benefits. 7.14.4.3. The employee and the District shall make contributions to the State Teachers' Retirement System in proportion to the load worked. The employee shall receive proportionate service credit.
Reduced Load. Faculty members may be offered special assignments (or projects) by the ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ President for the benefit of the College. These assignments will be based on the faculty member’s skill set or special qualifications for completion of such assignments. In such cases, load may be reduced for the specific period of the assignment’s completion, but only within the limits outlined in this article. No faculty load may be reduced to fewer than 9 contact hours per semester and for only a period of two semesters. All assignments with required release time are for one Academic year only, and need to be approved anew each year. All such special assignments or projects will be shared with the President of the Faculty Association along with the load report each semester following the drop/add period. Faculty with released load assignments will not be eligible for overloads, except in emergencies to staff classes.
