Union Representatives and Union Activity. 5.1 The Union shall inform the Employer in writing of the names of its officers, business representatives and stewards who are accredited to represent the Union, which information shall be kept up-to-date at all times. Only persons so designated will be accepted by the Employer as representatives of the Union. 5.2 Union representatives may, after receiving permission from the supervisor, visit the work location of employees covered by this agreement, for the purpose of administering provisions of the agreement related to grievance processing, disciplinary action and posting of Union notices on City provided bulletin boards. 5.3 Solicitation of Union membership or collection or checking of dues will not be conducted during working hours, other than as follows: 1. Union representatives are allowed access to new employees at an agreed upon time by the City and Union, for purposes of informing the employee about the exclusive bargaining representative within the first ninety (90) days of the employee’s start date; and 2. Union representatives shall have access to new employees once for new employee orientation for no more than 30 minutes; and 3. Access shall occur during the employee’s regular working hours at the employee’s regular worksite, unless otherwise agreed. The Employer agrees not to discriminate against any member of the Union for his or her activity in behalf of or membership in the Union, provided such activity is not carried on during working hours, except as expressly provided in this agreement. 5.4 Employee officers of the Union or stewards shall be allowed reasonable time away from their work assignment for the purposes of meetings with the City for collective bargaining, grievances or disciplinary hearings or such other legitimate activities as are mutually agreed upon between the Union and the City. City employees participating in such meetings or activities will be allowed to do so without loss of pay if scheduled during said employee’s regularly scheduled work time. If meetings or activities go beyond the regularly scheduled work time, then the employees shall be on their own time not paid by the City. The Union will provide the Employer with a current list of its officers and stewards who are accredited to represent the Union every six (6) months. B. Duly authorized staff representatives of the Union and its affiliates shall be granted access at reasonable times to enter the Employer’s facility where employees covered thereunder are employed, when such visits are necessitated by matters concerning the administration of this Agreement, observing the conditions under which the employees are employed and assisting in processing grievances. The Union representatives shall, prior to or upon arrival at the facility, notify the Medical Office Administrator, who shall contact the appropriate management personnel. During hours when the Medical Office Administrator’s office is closed, the Administrator on call shall be notified by calling the hospital switchboard operator. No interference with the work of employees or the confidentiality and privacy of patient care shall result and such right of entry shall be subject to general hospital rules applicable to non-employees, except that access shall not be restricted to any particular time of day. C. Officers and delegates and stewards of the Union or employees designated to attend programs of the Union including, but not limited to conventions may be granted a personal leave of absence time off without pay and without loss of seniority credit except as specified by this Collective Bargaining Agreement. Such leaves will not be unreasonably denied. D. Employees will be granted partial or complete Leaves of Absence without pay while conducting business pertaining to the Union.

Union Representatives and Union Activity. 7.1. A National Representative of the Union, upon providing advanced notice and with permission of the Employer, shall be allowed to enter the Employer’s premises to deal in the administration of the collective agreement. Such permission shall not be unreasonably withheld. The Union agrees that its officers, representatives and members, shall not engage in union activity during working hours or on the Employer’s property, except as authorized by this agreement or with the permission of the Employer.
Union Representatives and Union Activity. Section 1. The Authority shall recognize seven (7) Union representatives designated by the Union for the purpose of processing grievances. Grievances shall be processed at Steps 1 through 3 of the procedure set forth herein by the representative designated by the Union for the employee involved. The Union shall immediately supply the Authority with a roster of the Union representatives designated under this Section and thereafter shall immediately notify the Authority of any changes in such roster. Section 2. (a) Grievances shall be processed during on-duty hours, provided that this does not disrupt MTPD operations. In the event that the employee’s and/or Union representatives on- duty hours do not coincide with the on-duty hours of the supervisor to whom the grievance is to be presented, the grievance shall be processed during the supervisor’s on-duty hours and nothing herein shall be construed to require the Authority to pay an employee for processing grievances during the employee’s off-duty hours.
Union Representatives and Union Activity. Section 1. There shall be three (3) Union stewards authorized to attend contract negotiations without loss of pay. Section 2. In case any employee is elected or appointed to an elected position in the Union, requiring the employee's full time within the Union, the employee shall upon application be reappointed to a position with the classification of the employee's former position, provided said employee applies for reappointment within three (3) years after leaving the service of the Authority and the employee is eligible for retraining and physically and mentally qualified; such application must be made within thirty (30) days from the expiration of the employee's term of office or appointment. Section 3. No more than two (2) members of the Union selected to attend a function of the Union, such as conventions or educational conferences, shall be allowed leave without pay to attend such conferences and/or conventions. Annual leave may be granted to additional employees for the above purposes. Section 4. A Shop ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ will be provided an opportunity to meet with new Special Police Officers during the WMATA orientation program for up to one hour.
Union Representatives and Union Activity. 26.1 The Company agrees to recognize three (3) Stewards and before a change to the number of Stewards can occur, a meeting between the Manager, Administrative Services, or a designee and the Union's Business Representative shall be held. No unilateral change may be made to the number of Stewards recognized by the Company. 26.2 The Stewards’ Union activities on Company time shall fall within the scope of the following functions: (a) To consult with employees regarding the presentation of a request, complaint, or grievance which the employees want the ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ to present on their behalf. (b) To investigate a complaint or grievance of record before presentation to the appropriate Supervisor. (c) To present a request, complaint, or grievance to the employees’ immediate Supervisor in an attempt to settle the matter for the employees who may be directly affected. (d) To meet by appointment with the designated Representative of the Company, when necessary, to adjust Grievances in accordance with Article 22 (Grievance), pages 54-56. The Company and the Union agree that the minimum amount of time should be used in the performance of these duties. 26.3 Subject to existing security regulations, the Business Representative or other authorized Representative of the Union shall have access to the Company's work areas during working hours for the purpose of investigating grievances, complaints, or matters arising out of the interpretation or application of this Agreement. This access shall also be for the purposes of attending meetings in accordance with Article 22 (Grievance), pages 54-56. 26.4 New employees shall be introduced to the Union Stewards within five (5) workdays from the date of their employment with the Company. The function of the Stewards at this meeting is to explain their responsibilities under the terms of this Agreement. 26.5 When Stewards are required to leave their regular duties for the orderly and expeditious handling of a grievance, complaint, or other recognized Company and/or Union Business, the procedure outlined below shall be followed: (a) Stewards shall notify and obtain permission from their immediate Supervisor before leaving their work assignments for the purpose of investigating complaints or claims of a Grievance on the part of employees or the Union or contacting the Business Representative in regard to such a claim or grievance. Only persons so designated will be accepted by the Department as representatives of the Union. Section 5.2 Duly authorized representatives of the Union shall be permitted at all reasonable times to enter the facilities operated by the employer for the purpose of observing conditions under which employees are employed; provided, however, that no interference with the work of the employee will result. Section 5.3 Solicitation of Union members or collecting or checking of dues by the Union shall not be conducted during working hours. The Department agrees not to discriminate in any way against any employee of the bargaining unit for Union membership. Union activities shall not be carried on during working hours. Section 5.4 The Department will provide bulletin board space for the use of the Union in an area accessible to members of the bargaining unit. Section 5.5 The Department will make available to the Union meeting room space within current Department facilities (when available, as decided by the Executive Director) and where such activities will not interfere with the operation of the Department, provided such use shall not be unreasonably withheld.
