HOURS OF WORK, OVERTIME AND PREMIUMS. ‌ 20.01 (a) The following is intended to define the normal hours of work for full-time and part-time employees but shall not be interpreted as a guarantee of hours of work per day or per week or days of work per week.

(b) Employees will be assigned to work eight (8) consecutive hours, five (5) consecutive days, forty (40) hours per week. These employees will have either a one-half hour or one hour unpaid lunch period as indicated on the posted work schedule. The Company will endeav- our to allocate the meal period four (4) hours after the commencement of the employee’s starting time. However, except in the event of an emergency such employees will have their meal not later than five (5) hours from their scheduled starting time. The parties may agree locally to hours of work other than those set out herein. 13.03 Work schedules indicating the employee’s days and hours of work, lunch periods, and days off, will be determined locally by mutual agreement of manage- ment and the employees in an effort to accommodate the employees’ wishes while still meeting the needs of the customer and the business. However, should an agreement not be reached through mutual agreement within a reasonable timeframe, management reserves the right to create work schedules which meet the needs of the customer and the business, and to the extent possible accommodate the employees’ wishes. Schedules will be posted at least one month in ad- ▇▇▇▇▇. 13.04 Insofar as possible shift work shall be kept to a min- imum; however, it is understood and agreed that em- ployees shall be required to work on a shift basis to complete assigned work which they are qualified to do. 13.05 The Company will provide two (2) fifteen (15) minute coffee breaks during each work day, one (1) in the morning and one (1) in the afternoon. 13.06 A shift premium will be paid for regular, non-over- time hours worked outside the core hours of work, 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. daily as follows: (a) 9:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. - sixty-three ($0.63) cents per hour. HOURS OF WORK, OVERTIME AND PREMIUMS. ‌ 21.1 The regular annual hours of work for a regular full-time employee shall be one thousand nine hundred and fifty (1950) hours. The regular daily hours of a regular full-time employee shall be 7.5 hours. 21.2 It is recognized that the Employer may implement alternative schedules based on modified weeks for employees covered by an overtime averaging permit under the Employment Standards Act and other employees who work a modified work week. (a) Regular hours of work for regular full-time employees on an modified work week shall be: i. These alternative schedules shall provide for more scheduled days off compared to the 7.5 hour schedule; ii. Weekly hours will not exceed an average of 37.5 hours over the rotation cycle of the schedule and annual hours of work shall not exceed one thousand nine hundred and fifty (1950) one thousand nine hundred and fifty-two (1952) hours. iii. The number of consecutive shift days of work shall be no more than seven (7) days. (b) The Employer shall post a schedule no less than fourteen (14) calendar days in advance to run for at least two (2) biweekly pay periods. (c) It is recognized that both parties are required to sign the overtime averaging permit upon the renewal of the Collective Agreement, or annually when the Agreement is expired, in order for employees to continue working on a modified work week. (d) Where the parties wish to continue modified work weeks, both the Union and the Employer agree to sign the renewed averaging permit at least 30 days before the expiration of the previous averaging permit, provided that the employer has not changed the period over which the hours are averaged. (e) A party is required to provide the other party with at least 30 days’ notice, before the expiration of the averaging permit if they will not be signing the renewed averaging permit. 21.3 Em ployees sha ll be e ntitled to a fifteen (15) m inute rest break in the first half and in the second half of the ir regu la r daily hours of work. HOURS OF WORK, OVERTIME AND PREMIUMS. 28.01 The normal work week begins on Sunday at 07H00 AM. 28.02 The average annual normal work week is forty (40) hours. The work schedules include normal workdays divided into day, evening and night shifts, and are established by the management. 28.03 The University will endeavour to maintain stability and consistency within each employee’s schedule. The work schedules may be changed occasionally, with the agreement of the employee concerned, to meet the operational needs. In such instances, it is important to comply with the total annual number of hours of work scheduled for the position. The schedules of work will be determined by the University and may be amended from time to time to meet various needs of the University campus. When here is a permanent assignment change between teams, unless the employee and the manager agree to a sooner agreement, the employee shall be provided four (4) weeks’ written notice of the change. Pre-approved vacation or other leave for employees who are required by the Employer to change Teams will be honoured.
