The centres co-locate child protection practitioners, specialist police investigators and sexual assault counsellor/advocates with strong links to forensic medical personnel. These professionals work collaboratively to provide a victim/survivor centred, specialist, integrated and holistic response to victims of sexual abuse from a single location. This ensures that victim/survivors experience fewer service providers, more timely and accessible responses, increased sensitivity, privacy, and anonymity. The state government expanded the MDC model to incorporate a community health nurse at each MDC. The community health nurse will have a particular scope and focus, noting the importance of integration and linkages with the rest of the health system and appropriate structures for support and governance. The MDC community health nurses will practice within the social model of health, providing needs identification, care planning, referral to appropriate services providers, education awareness- raising and develop local networks of care. Community health nurses will provide short to medium term care and provide an important link with other health and community services. They will also partner with other providers to assist with quality improvement and service planning activities for survivors of sexual assault. The priority for the role is to support sustainable improvements to service capacity. The North-West Pharmacotherapy Liaison Officer will be accountable for project outcomes to the ORTicare Network via the Network Manager (employed by Ballarat Community Health) while supported operationally by Bendigo Community Health Services (BCHS). The team supports clients along the continuum of AOD use from active using to seeking access to stop their use. The focus of the team is to provide seamless treatment and support pathways, coordinated service and a range of information and education interventions relating to harm reduction. The Needle Syringe Program (NSP) team provides sterile injecting equipment and disposal services within a harm minimisation and health promotion framework to the City of Greater Bendigo. The program delivers information and education covering a range of public health and harm reduction issues including safer using practices, identifying and responding to high risk injecting practices, appropriate disposal of injecting equipment, safe sex practice and prevention of blood borne virus (BBV) and sexually transmitted infections (STI). The team operates an outreach model Tuesday to Saturday evenings from 7.30 to 11.00 pm. The responsibilities of the position are: • Provide a comprehensive range of NSP equipment, information, education and outreach services to people who inject drugs. • Initiate, develop and deliver targeted harm reduction information and education regarding safe injecting equipment and techniques, appropriate disposal, BBV, opiate overdose awareness, prevention and response as well as promoting safe and positive sexual health including STI prevention. • Contribute to program development initiatives, service integration and referral pathways, team development and organisational goals. • Contribute to the ongoing development and sustainability of the mobile Needle Syringe Program through promotion and advocacy in the community.

In turn, Settlement Services is situated within the Wellbeing, Inclusion, and Independence portfolio, which also includes Clinical and Psychosocial Alcohol and Other Drugs Services, and the Cultural Diversity team. This project will reach out to members of the community that haven’t engaged in the scheme through current promotions due to a range of barriers. The grant has been made available to all Victorian households. The team are adept at understanding community needs and engaging those that confront barriers on many levels. This role is responsible to the Senior Leader Settlement Services. The team is multi-disciplined and is situated in a busy open plan office environment. The role will be to promote the grant primarily targeting the local community of lived refugee experience and assist eligible households to apply for the Power Saving Bonus. The project worker will be required to communicate information regarding this Victorian Government initiative and assist community members to understand what is available and how to progress. You will work closely with people who have a range of limitations to engaging with mass marketing and community messaging. Language will be the main significant barrier.
